چکیده

The ongoing convergence of Grid computing and Web Services has motivated a number of research groups to study the use of SOAP-based Web Services for scientific computing. These studies have exposed various performance problems in using SOAP-based communication, and a number of suggested extensions to the SOAP standard and/or sophisticated implementation strategies have been proposed to eliminate these bottlenecks. In this paper, we describe our experience in building a system based on Web Services for simulating a multi-physics, coupled fluid/thermal/mechanical fracture problem. The system is organized as a collection of geographically-distributed software components in which each component provides a Web Service, and uses standard SOAP-based Web Service protocols to interact with other components. There are a number of advantages to organizing a system in this way, which we discuss. We have analyzed the performance of our system and found that the overhead for using SOAP-based Web Services is small. Our results suggest that the previously identified potential bottlenecks may not be major issues in practice, and that even a standards-compliant implementation like ours can delivery good performance provided Web Services are used judiciously.

A Multi-Physics Simulation Model Based on Finite Element Method for the Multi-Layer Switched Reluctance Motor

Using ANSYS finite element (FE) package, a multi-physics simulation model based on finite element method (FEM) is introduced for the multi-layer switched reluctance motor (SRM) in the present paper. The simulation model is created totally in ANSYS parametric design language (APDL) as a parametric model usable for various conventional types of this motor and it is included electromagnetic, therm...

Emergency department resource optimisation for improved performance: a review

Emergency departments (EDs) have been becoming increasingly congested due to the combined impacts of growing demand, access block and increased clinical capability of the EDs. This congestion has known to have adverse impacts on the performance of the healthcare services. Attempts to overcome with this challenge have focussed largely on the demand management and the application of system wide p...

QoS-based Web Service Recommendation using Popular-dependent Collaborative Filtering

Since, most of the organizations present their services electronically, the number of functionally-equivalent web services is increasing as well as the number of users that employ those web services. Consequently, plenty of information is generated by the users and the web services that lead to the users be in trouble in finding their appropriate web services. Therefore, it is required to provi...

QoS-Based web service composition based on genetic algorithm

Quality of service (QoS) is an important issue in the design and management of web service composition. QoS in web services consists of various non-functional factors, such as execution cost, execution time, availability, successful execution rate, and security. In recent years, the number of available web services has proliferated, and then offered the same services increasingly. The same web ...
